In this era of disruption, constant innovation is the most critical skill. We believe in bringing back the philosophy of ‘Renaissance Mind’ for better ideation and developing the same perspectives that have driven creative thinking, technological progress and innovation throughout the human history. We practice a zero-gravity thinking approach to problem solving, confronting orthodoxies and harnessing new trends. In this process we repurpose, redeploy, and recombine various resources to create new opportunities in a holistic manner.

Future thinking is the other side of the coin to design-thinking; While design-thinking looks at the present user-need in a lateral way, the basic principle of future-thinking is to take direct cues from pivotal megatrends that will affect the user going forward. It is about divergence and open thinking whereas design-thinking is about convergence. We believe that real innovation comes from the amalgamation of the two.

Kedging is one such concept that has been developed in-house based on this concept. Extrapolated from nautical terminology- it means to haul a ship forward by pulling an anchor that has been dropped into the sea at a distance. For us it means to not only look at customer empathy but also throw the anchor into the future trends and identify opportunities in the overlap.

Design Thinking is a method for innovation beyond individual brilliance which offers a reliable process to develop new products, experiences and cultures. It posits Systems Thinking and Futures Thinking at its core and is supported by several inputs from anthropology, psychology, neuroscience and engineering. Built on 4 tenets namely Empathetic Inquiry, Abductive Reasoning, Creative visualization and Iterative prototyping, this flexible framework could be applied to any process of decisioning in any form.

At Turian Labs we practice a zero-gravity, renaissance mind approach to problem solving, confronting orthodoxies and harnessing new trends. Our propriety KEDGING technique is designed to collaboratively map the emerging possibilities and repurpose/redeploy/recombine various resources to create new opportunities in a holistic manner.

Design Thinking is an intentional cadence of processes and methodologies that utilize imagination, discovery and visualization to achieve the project objectives. It is not just a 5-step linear process but a creative and flexible framework that is built on 4 pillars or tenets of Design thinking. Regardless of their sequence they could be named as Empathic Inquiry, Abductive Reasoning, Creative Visualization and Iterative Prototyping. All these tenets are interconnected and could be applied to any process of decisioning in any form.

Design tools are methods used by designers and strategists all over the world as a means for understanding data as well as ideating with it. Some tools are generic and are being used by many- for example, fly-on-the-wall, journey maps, story-boarding, etc. Sometimes, we also find the need for customized tools- 'Sense-Storming and Desirability Matrix' are two tools that have been developed by our designers in-house in response to recognizing gaps with potential opportunities.
