Turian as a name is derived from ‘Turiya’ (of the Sanskrit term ‘Chaturya’) that means the ‘fourth state of consciousness’ mentioned in Indian philosophy. Three states of consciousness are a) waking b) dreams c) dreamless sleep. But the fourth state is where the duality of observer and observed vanishes. It is also called the very substratum of the other three states. Aim of human life is to achieve the supreme consciousness of this fourth state. Turian Lab believes that the world needs holistic thinking and 'unity of consciousness' to look beyond the obvious.

He leads Turian team's engagement with organizations at the intersection of culture, brand, technology and business to answer 'What next?'. He has lead engagements with global brands on innovation for over 2 decades.
Sonali has nearly two decades of diverse experience including working with an NGO, an e-publishing company and branding. She is an experienced facilitator with over 10 years of experience in designing and conducting workshops on entrepreneurship, conflict management & communication at various forums from high-school students and teachers to corporate groups. She holds a Masters’ degree in Zoology from Calcutta University.
Sajid leads the Design Thinking initiatives (research strategy, and business analysis along with strengthening the work for the services industry) and Client Engagement at Turian Labs. An experienced leader and manager with more than a decade long industry experience across strategy consulting, business analysis, and financial research/advisory. He is an alumnus of University of Wales with PG in Finance.
Mugdha shows great acumen for research based analysis and design. With a background in Industrial Product design, her curiosity to learn about the world, human behavior and what lies beneath the surface, drives her into the field of design research. Before joining the team at Turian Labs, Mugdha worked as a design research consultant for a multinational.
Shailee is a post-graduate in Design Strategy and Innovation from MassArt, Boston with a background in Industrial Design. She likes to represent the user's point-of-view by uncovering user stories and understanding their coherent behaviours to inform solutions and strategies. She was an exchange student at MIT-Cambridge, learning about consumer behaviour and various marketing techniques to augment her human-centered design approach.
Abhay is a recent graduate of Product Design from DJ Academy of Design, Coimbatore. For him Industrial design is not only about solving problems, but about looking for the right problem and its solution
Girin has a profound passion for people and is intrigued by human behavior. A part-time musician, he believes his art helps him empathize with people and gives him an edge in establishing a rapport for research. He has done his Bachelors in Computer Application (BCA) from Pune University.
Kritanya is a design graduate from MIT Institute of Design and had joined Turian Labs as a design intern. Her ability to quickly grasp things and go-getter attitude has contributed immensely in her transition to a full-time Design Researcher. Her hobbies include sketching and visual thinking and they come in handy in the professional world as well.
Siraj is a graduate from National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi specialising in fashion and lifestyle accessory design. He started off his career as an industrial designer and recently made the shift to design research.

Dr. Makarand “Chips” Chipalkatti is a founder board member of Global Innovation Management Institute, USA. Chips received a Ph.D. in Polymer Science & Eng. from Univ. of Massachusetts and a B.Tech Chem. Eng. from IIT Bombay. Since 2005, Dr. Chips led the Strategic Innovation Management function for OSRAM SYLVANIA and continued to serve as a key member of OSRAM’s global innovation leadership. Dr. Chips has also played a pioneering role in the Lighting industry as an industry leader in various trade bodies and working with public agencies. Dr. Chips now works through his executive consulting practice focusing on industry transformation, innovation and entrepreneurship with special emphasis on the commercialization of innovation.
STAN THIJSSEN, AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
Stan Thijssen is an trained designer, a global technocrat and a visionary entrepreneur bundled in one. Stan carries more than 25 years of experience across different sectors (lighting, branding, packaging), different geographies (including India) and different roles (designer, business dev manager, managing director, founder) in design-led-business growth. He founded Ngage Media in 2010 which provide digital out-of-home services in Europe.
IMMANUEL SURESH, AHMEDABAD, INDIA
Immanuel Suresh a senior professor of Visual Design discipline at NID (National Institute of Design), one of the top institutions of design in India. Suresh is a master storyteller and a voracious reader apart from being a design teacher with more than 25 years of experience in sculpting talented minds in design from India. He also served as chairman of the admission committee and chairman of the foundation programs at NID. Suresh studied at College of Art and Crafts, Chennai, one of the country’s oldest art institutions, where he learned from reputed painters and craftsmen teachers in a metal smithy.
MATTHEW MALESKA, DESIGN STRATEGIST, NEW HAVEN, CT (USA)
The founder of Every Stone OTR, LLC a design research and innovation firm. He was most recently the Director of Market & Customer Insights, Marketing Global Services at Pitney Bowes. Prior to Pitney Bowes he was the Design Manager for the SPARC Innovation Program (Center for Innovation) at the Mayo Clinic. He holds a Master of Business Administration from the F.W. Olin Graduate School of Business, Babson College, and a BFA in Industrial Design from the Rhode Island School of Design. In 2001 he was a Fulbright Scholar at the National Institute of Design in India.

Silva Paananen has 25 years of experience in international business, management consulting, training & coaching and a passion for marketing communications.
